MEAT HUNTING
SAFE free range MEAT HUNTING WITH QUALIFIED GUIDES
Whilst a trophy for the wall is desired by many hunters, they are not available all year round. A meat hunt is a great way to learn to hunt, or keep your skills sharp, enjoy the New Zealand bush, spend time with friends or family and put a bit of meat in the freezer all at once.
Come and join us for a guided meat hunt on 10000 acres of private land in the Central North Island. We can provide everything if needed if you are just new to hunting or you can bring your own kit if you prefer. All hunts are guided so you get the advantage of having expert local knowledge of the block. We know where the deer like to hang out. There is a mix of bush stalking and clearing hunting on offer.
Side by side vehicles are used to traverse the property on the network of tracks that weave their way through the regenerating native bush. This is an adventure in itself, a definite highlight of many guests.
Meat hunting is the way that we manage the deer population to make sure that we have a high quality herd of animals. We target both cull stags and female animals. Limiting the population helps us make sure that we have high quality stags to hunt in the trophy season (March April). Both red deer and fallow are available to hunt.
Meat hunts normally happen as an overnight experience over 24 hours although 2 nights is preferred, staying at the off grid lodge on the property. With modern facilities and ensuite in the rooms it is far from roughing it. We would suggest that you arrive at midday so that you can have an afternoon / evening hunt, enjoy an evening at the lodge, and depart late morning. You can stay as many days as you like.
ANIMAL PROCESSING
We offer a complete service and can organised for your game to be turned into small goods (salamis, sausages, mince, or patties) you just tell us what you would like.
FIRE ARMS
Gun permits are easily obtained at Auckland airport upon arrival or online via the NZ Police website here . The cost is approximately NZD$25. Recommended firearms are 300 or 7mm. No pistols are allowed in New Zealand.
